Description & History

Chicago Lawndale Amachi Mentoring Program is dedicated to eliminating generational poverty and incarceration by providing structured one to one and group relationships to vulnerable children and youth in North Lawndale. Our mission is to provide mentoring and support services; improve the life prospect of youth by providing a helping and trusting relationship; engage mentee in cultural enrichment activities; develop and enhance self-confidence, leadership and goal setting skills. Our vision is for the mentor to develop a strong mentoring relationship with youth; encourage a sense of self-worth and meaningful direction; and provide the security of the mentee knowing an adult is there to help.
