Volunteer opportunity description

Our case managment tream needs volunteers to assist in delivering and setting up housing items for our newly-arrived participants. Move in volunteers serve a crucial role in actively setting up participants for success in their life in Chicago. After much transition and exhaustive travel, it is important to arrive to a furnished and clean place to call home.

Drive out to donation sites to load up our van with household goods, purchase furniture and household items with ageny funds, help set up brand new apartments, and assemble furniture for refugees. Items include beds, couches, kitchen tables, chairs, desks, dressers, and decorations.

Set-ups take place during 9am-5pm business hours. Volunteers usually receive about 4-7 day advanced notice. We are looking for people with flexible schedules who can offer a couple of hours a month to assist when our refugee resettlement agency receives a travel notification for a new family.

Be ready to help up 2-10 hous a month on an 'on-call' basis. Attend new volunteer orientation prior to start.

Optional: have a drivers license and clean driving record so that you can be screened and authorized to drive Heartland company vehicles.
