Volunteer opportunity description

Chicago students need great tutors like you, now more than ever. Join our growing volunteer team and help a student develop the foundation skills to be successful in school and in life.

The Basics:

  • Volunteers are matched one-to-one with a student in 1st-6th grade and meet with that same student once a week during the school year on Mon, Tues, OR Wed from 6:00-7:30 PM.
  • To begin, you just need to complete a brief application, background check, and attend a 90-minute orientation.
  • Typical tutoring sessions include homework review and skill-building activities in literacy, math, technology, and other key subject areas.
  • Tutoring Chicago provides a wide variety of resources and materials and staff are on-hand to assist with questions.
  • For the 2020-2021 program year, Tutoring Chicago will be providing digital learning opportunities so volunteers and students will be abe to connect virtually

Thank you for visiting our listing! In addition to having a significant impact on the life of a child, you would also be joining one of the largest (900 and growing!) and most dynamic volunteer communities in Chicago. We host monthly happy hours, trainings, and other events throughout the year if you'd like to meet others and get more involved.

Volunteers must attend a 90-minute orientation and complete a background check, after submitting a volunteer application
