Volunteer opportunity description

This high energy, six-week program, serving children entering 1st - 9th grades and living in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods, offers instruction in language arts, math, science, music, dance, drama and art. Summer Day is a way for children to get a jump-start on the upcoming school year and develop exciting, new talents while having fun. And . . . We need you!

Academic Classroom Assistance:

Volunteer in a small group or one-to-one setting, helping student(s) with reading, writing, math and science during their academic classroom time. Our classroom teachers will assist with lesson plans and guide you through the process. You will have the opportunity to work with 1st - 2nd grade, 3rd - 4th grade, 5th - 6th grade and/or 7th - 9th grade students. Days and Times: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-11:45 am

Arts Class Assistance:

Get your creative juices flowing by volunteering in one of our performing arts classes: art, dance, drama & film, singing or hip-hop production. You will support the students with their arts activities, share ideas and talents and assist the instructors with the set-up and clean-up of materials. Days and Times: Monday-Thursday, 12:00pm-3:00pm

Field Trip Chaperone:

This summer we will be taking many fun and educational trips around Chicago. We visit the Ravinia Festival each year to experience a classical music concert and trips to museums are always on our schedule. Join us for one or all of our fabulous Friday Field Trips! Days and Times: Fridays, all day and other days during the week as trips are scheduled
